Bett UK 2024: A hub of innovation
Bett UK is one of the largest gatherings of EdTech experts in the world, with over 30,000 attendees and 600+ resource solution providers attending each year. Running since 1985, it is also one of the most prestigious and longest-standing EdTech events still running.
This year’s keynote speakers include:
- Louis Theroux: The world-renowned documentary maker will be interviewing British rapper Loyle Carner live at the show.
- Dame Darcey Bussell: Speaking on behalf of the DDMIX Trust charity in support of promoting the arts in schools.
- Namya Joshi: 16-year-old Namya, who received the Global Child Prodigy Award in 2022, will be covering the positive impact of game-based learning.
- Jason Arday: Exploring how innovative technology impacts race and equality in education.
Attendees can expect artificial intelligence, remote collaboration, and adaptive learning to be front and centre as providers focus on how educational experiences can be optimised in today’s fast-changing technology landscape.
Whether you’re representing a school, governmental body, or solution provider, there’s plenty to get involved in.
Fab or fad? Identifying technology that delivers in the long term
Bett UK ultimately helps educators find and implement technology that will improve the experiences of their learners. This means that a product’s innovation has to be carefully balanced with its cost, practicality, and overall benefit.
If you’re looking to trial or procure a piece of technology, here are some key points to keep in mind:
Integration
Choosing a solution that integrates seamlessly with your existing systems allows you to use your existing data to improve learning outcomes and create more bespoke, inclusive educational experiences.
Security and data protection
32% of businesses and 24% of charities reported data breaches or attacks in 2022/3, rising to around 50% for higher education institutions. As such, security is front of mind for Bett UK 2024. When procuring technology, look for partners with widely-recognised security certifications, such as:
- GDPR
- Cyber Essentials Plus
- The TOGAF Standard
- ISO 27001
Scalability
Due to the large volume of data typically produced by educational institutions, your software solution has to be highly scalable. A cloud-native system is ideal, giving you the flexibility to grow your technological capabilities according to the changing needs of your students.
Customisation
AI has allowed educators to turn previously rigid, impersonal, and unequal assessments into highly customised adaptive educational experiences. Students can be presented with information and questions according to their unique requirements, and AI can use the resulting data to continue to improve and adapt.
Bringing cutting-edge technology to the classroom
2024 is a crucial year for bringing technological innovation into the classroom; by investing in software and data storage systems now, educational institutions can create a strong foundation over which to implement AI technology.
