Software built for transport.

We build and maintain software for some of the UK's most operationally demanding transport organisations. From serverless loyalty backends to internal mobile apps for major urban transit networks, we deliver technically robust solutions where reliability is non-negotiable.

Reliable software for transport organisations that cannot afford downtime.

Talk Think Do was founded by Matt Hammond, who spent six years building race strategy, telemetry, and control system software in Formula 1, an environment where real-time data reliability, low-latency decision making, and zero tolerance for failure are baseline requirements. That engineering discipline carries directly into the transport systems we build today.

Our transport clients include CalMac Ferries, the UK's largest ferry network, where we provide responsive application support and enhancement delivery for systems supporting over 160,000 sailings and 5 million passengers each year. We also worked with Avios, the IAG loyalty platform behind British Airways and partner airlines, building a serverless mobile backend for their customer loyalty app.

We also work with large urban transit organisations on internal mobile applications used by their operational teams. While we cannot name these clients publicly, this work has given us deep experience of the governance, security, and reliability standards required by major public transport networks.

Where transport technology gets hard.

The problems we encounter most often with transport operators, mobility platforms, and loyalty programmes.

Always-on operational requirements

Transport services run continuously. A ferry operator cannot pause sailings while software is updated; an urban transit network cannot tolerate an app outage during the morning rush. Every system must be designed for zero-downtime deployment and rapid incident response.

Legacy ticketing and operations systems

Many transport organisations run on systems built decades ago, deeply integrated with hardware, physical infrastructure, and operational workflows. Modernising these without disrupting live services is one of the most technically demanding problems in software.

Passenger-facing mobile expectations

Whether it is a loyalty app for frequent flyers or a journey planner for commuters, passengers expect polished, reliable mobile experiences. The bar is set by consumer apps and the consequences of falling short are visible and immediate.

Loyalty and rewards at scale

Customer loyalty programmes in transport handle millions of transactions, partner integrations, and real-time point balances. The backend must be serverless, event-driven, and capable of handling bursts without degradation.

Security and data compliance

Transport systems hold sensitive passenger data, payment records, and in some cases biometric or location data. Security must meet the standards expected of public sector and regulated industries, including Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001.

Multi-operator and partner integration

Transport ecosystems rarely exist in isolation. Loyalty programmes must connect with partner airlines. Ferry operators integrate with booking agents, port systems, and HMRC. Every integration adds complexity and a potential point of failure.

What we build for transport.

Passenger-facing mobile apps

iOS and Android applications for journey planning, ticketing, loyalty, and real-time service updates. Built to the quality standards passengers expect from consumer apps, with the reliability transport operations demand.

Serverless and event-driven backends

Scalable cloud-native backends on Azure and AWS that handle unpredictable load patterns without degradation. Ideal for loyalty platforms, booking systems, and real-time operational data.

Internal operational tooling

Tools for staff, controllers, and operations teams: route management, fleet tracking, crew scheduling, and incident reporting. We build internal apps that match the complexity of the workflows they support.

Loyalty and rewards platforms

High-throughput loyalty backends with partner integrations, real-time point accrual, and fraud controls. Built for the transaction volumes of major travel programmes.

Legacy modernisation and support

Maintaining and evolving ageing transport systems with zero disruption to live operations. We provide managed support with SLAs calibrated to operational criticality, plus incremental modernisation to cloud-native architecture.

Security and compliance

ISO 27001 certified, Cyber Essentials Plus accredited. We design transport systems to the security standards expected of public-facing and government-adjacent organisations, with full GDPR compliance.
